Who else, at the tender age of 70, would hold a wedding, launch an expansion of their amusement park, record a new album and undergo their largest tour in 25 years to promote it? No one, except Dolly Parton. Compiling a list of only five reasons why we love her was difficult (as there are too many reasons to count), as she is a true pioneer that has stood the test of time – Parton is an American entity, beloved the world over. And once you read why we love our #WCW, you won’t be able to help but adore her as well.

*Warning: A little bit of fan-girling appears in this post*

Versatility: How has Dolly been able to span over five decades of popular appeal? Because she knows how to keep herself relevant. She knew how to keep her music and brand relatable and appealing to fans all over the world, writing songs that punched the heart or made listeners smile, singing about her simple upbringing and real-world emotions. She built an amusement park in her beloved East Tennessee to bring employment to the area and joy to the masses. She made us laugh in fan favorite movies such as 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. She is on top of her game, and there is nothing more adoring than a woman with brains.

Dominating Longevity: Parton is among a select few whom has maintained an insatiable amount of popularity throughout her career. Facing difficulty at the beginning of her career because of both her sex and appearance, legendary country showman Porter Wagnor gave her a chance on his tv show and as his duet partner. Since then, Dolly has paved the way for women in the entertainment industry as a musician, songwriter, actress, producer, and business mogul. She’s also accrued an impressive list of awards and accolades along the way.

Philanthropy: Two words – Imagination Library. What started as a project in 1995 to promote literacy in Eastern Tennessee has now become one of the largest literacy non-profits in the world. Over 6 million books have been sent, with roughly 750,000 children in the US, UK, and Canada receiving a high-quality book once a month, regardless of their families income. Parton wanted to instill the love of reading and stimulate creativity at an early age, and with statistical research to prove it, Parton has helped a generation of children score higher on early literacy tests.

Humor: What other individual could successful write a song about premenstrual syndrome and get away with it? No one, except Dolly Parton. She’s not afraid to crack jokes on social issues, events, and even herself, her witty demeanor is infectious to all that come in her presence. And the beautiful aspect of humor is that in no manner is it deprecating – she can give and take a punch with kindness and sincerity, a true anomaly.

Appearance: Ok, we know. You can’t talk about Dolly without thinking of her…….. how shall we say………chest endowment? Ok, forget it – we’re talking about her boobs. But that is not the only captivating thing about her exterior. She’s always had these sincere eyes that light up when she laughs. She has these incredible dimples that have always been the perfect accentuation for her fuller cheeks and adorable chin. And she’s never been bashful about showing off her figure or ‘dolling’ herself up. She is unapologetically herself, and I must say, her wig game is always strong.
