This year at Stagecoach, SiriusXM sponsored the Spotlight Stage featuring up-and-coming artists. We had the chance to sit down and catch up with one of those featured artists, Adam Doleac. This was Adam’s first appearance at Stagecoach and fans showed up and made him feel welcomed.

CN: How was your first Stagecoach experience?

AD: It was really great, we had a great crowd come out and as we were playing they just kept funneling in.

CN: Tell us about your newest single “Bigger Than Us”.

AD: It’s me being a hopeless romantic and me believing in fate. I used to do this thing where I would be in a relationship and it would get hard, I would immediately say this is the person I am not supposed to be with. I would almost talk myself out of it, but the truth is every relationship gets hard at some point. Today may suck, but tomorrow will be great. Whatever the world throws at us, this love is bigger than us.

CN: On your EP you wrote all of your songs and you have written songs that other artists have cut. What do you like about songwriting?

AD: I had a song cut by Kane Brown, who is a good buddy of mine. Recently I got a cut by Darius Rucker and I grew up listening to Hootie and The Blowfish. It’s one of my favorite songs called “Don’t”, it’s number 5 on his record. If he doesn’t single it, I will single it one day. I love it, it was hard to give it away, but Darius sounds great on it. It is pretty surreal, he is playing it at every show. So, I get videos from Australia, all over the world of him singing that song and this is why I am doing it.

I think songwriting is really cool and being on stage is really cool. So, when you have the opportunity to go from writing a song in a room with you and a buddy, to then being able to also go sing the song in front of a crowd, you get to see the full circle reaction. You get to see if it works or doesn’t work, not much cooler than that. I love them both equally and to see them come together is my favorite.

CN: You used to play baseball, do you miss it or ever get out to play a little?

AD: No. There are some inter-mural softball teams that I may or may have not been a part of. I went back home about a month ago and threw out the first pitch at my old college. I got a little nervous, am I going to miss the catcher? But I almost threw a strike. I don’t miss it because I love what I am doing now. What I loved about baseball, the energy and the crowd and playing in front of people, I still get to do that now.

CN: You’re a Sirius Highway Finds Artist, and was part of the “Highway Finds Tour”, what has that experience been like?

AD: It was really cool, I am independent and don’t have a record deal. I recorded a CD and sent it to SiriusXM to see if they would like it. They called me back and said “We don’t like this, we love it”. They heard “Whiskeys Fine” and they said we have to have this, it’s been so special. I am lucky to be an artist that is being heard today because of Sirius and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.

CN: What are your summer plans?

AD: Touring, a lot of touring and a new record. I have a new song coming out May 11th called “Mom and Daddy’s Money”. It’s one of my favorite songs that I have ever been a part of.

CN: What was the first car that you drove?

AD: Hand me down Chevy, no AC

Adam will be performing at CMA Fest June 9th on the Breakout Stage, so be sure to catch him if you’re headed to Nashville in June. To see a full list of Adam’s tour dates, visit his website https://www.adamdoleac.com/.
