NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Texas Hill member and former NBC’s The Voice runner-up Adam Wakefield married longtime love and fellow artist Jenny Leigh in an intimate ceremony held Sunday (4/11) at True North (Fairview, Tenn.) – a beautiful, privately owned property outside of Nashville. Surrounded by family and friends – including Texas Hill band members Craig Wayne Boyd (The Voice season seven winner) and Casey James (third place, ABC’s American Idol season nine) – the two exchanged vows, with longtime friend and fellow songwriter Ryan Sorestad officiating.

“It was windy on the hill, so both of us were holding on to Adam’s piece of paper with his vows for dear life so that it didn’t blow away,” Leigh told People Magazine, who first broke the news. “We also had to warn our officiant of several ‘boobie traps’ that were surrounding the arch to keep it in place so that he didn’t trip. Adam and I built the arch out of willow branches, and my dad stepped in to secure it with pipe clamps and fishing wire. The florals were heavy so it took a group effort to make sure it stayed in place!”

The reception featured performances by hit artist Jimmy Fortune (who performed “My Only Love” for the couple’s first dance), two-time CMA Musician of the Year Award-winner Jenee Fleenor, and musician and songwriter Mike Rogers (Craig Morgan, Quicksilver, Doyle Lawson). Wakefield also took the stage to surprise his bride with a new song he wrote especially for Leigh, “You Hold Sway Over Me,” accompanied by Fleenor on violin.

“I came up with the idea from a Bonnie Raitt song I was listening to, actually,” Wakefield told People of the song. “I misheard a lyric (how I get my best ideas) and thought it would make a nice song to write for Jenny for our wedding. I think she liked it.”

“I loved it. It was beautiful and heartfelt,” Leigh corrected.

Wakefield’s suit was customized by local friend and western wear designer, Ashlyn Evans, and was inspired by a floral embroidered jacket that Jimi Hendrix wore in the 60’s. Evans created a hat band to match the suite. Leigh wore two dresses by designer Martina Liana, both purchased at Baltimore-based Posh Bridal. She also wore a necklace custom-designed by Shetland, Scotland-based designer Karlin Anderson, compliments of Wakefield’s mother, Marsha.

Please note: this wedding followed the CDC’s COVID guidelines. Out-of-town guests were asked to test prior to departing for Nashville, and all guests were given a rapid test prior to traveling to the ceremony. Masks were worn by all employed at the wedding.
