Niangua Coffee Sessions Features Legendary Kentucky Singer/Songwriter Chris Knight

Lebanon, MO — Nathaniel Maddux first met legendary singer/songwriter Chris Knight in 2014, when Maddux’ Slate and Glass Productions shot an episode of the Carbon TV documentary series American Elements. The two respected each other’s work, and kept in touch along with Knight’s manager, Rick Alter.

When it came time to create promotional content for Knight’s 2019 album, Almost Daylight, Alter reached out to Maddux, and hired Slate and Glass to produce the music videos.

“I first worked with Slate and Glass on the project for Carbon TV, which turned out fantastic,” said Alter. “Nathaniel captured Chris like no one ever had, always preserving the integrity, intrigue and wishes of the artist.”

Indeed, it was while shooting some of the footage that Maddux wanted to capture those very qualities about Chris and his music. “We wanted to provide an intimate look at Chris performing some of his music, raw and acoustic,” said Maddux. “It also made sense that the shoot took place outdoors on Chris’ farm in Kentucky, since Knight is an avid outdoorsman.” With that, a new web series was born–The Niangua Coffee Sessions—named after the coffee company of the same name that Maddux owns.
