Melanie Meriney Releases Music Video For “Up In Lights”

Nashville pop country artist Melanie Meriney explores the pitfalls of the climb to fame, in a sometimes-flawed entertainment industry, in her music video for “Up In Lights.” The lyrics have cutting relevance, backed by a singable melody and modern pop flair.

“‘Up In Lights’ came to me while I was driving by myself on a ten hour road trip,” says Meriney. “I was just thinking about how a lot of the entertainment industry involves putting on a mask and fitting into a particular mold. It can be easy to get caught up in the game and forget who you are in pursuit of this dream. You don’t want to lose yourself in the process.”

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native grew up an avid country radio fan. The influences of the city around her helped developed her country sound with a fresh mix of pop, rock, and hip hop.

The singer has opened for Little Big Town, The Commodores, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac. She has been a nominee for Best Country Female Solo Artist at the Nashville Industry Music Awards.

Melanie signed a publishing deal with Dune Grass Music in 2016. Along with mentions in Billboard, Country Aircheck, and Music Row Magazine, she was named on several “Artists to Watch in 2018” lists including AXS Artists to WatchYour Life In A Song Country Artists to Watch in 2018, and Country Music Minute Ones to Watch in 2018.
