If you’re concerned that country music has hit the point of no return, seventeen-year-old Oklahoma native Mikayla Lane will ease your mind. A vocal talent with the writing skills to match, Mikayla’s current single “Ambush” brings both front and center. Now, fans can learn a bit more about what went into recording the single as Mikayla exclusively premieres the Behind the Scenes video with The Country Note today.
“‘Ambush’ is your typical love story song but with a twist and some irony mixed in,” explains Mikayla. “Many have described it as ‘James Bond meets southwestern music’ and I couldn’t agree more! It’s about a girl who isn’t looking for love and along the way out of nowhere she gets ‘ambushed’ by love when she least expected it.”
The BTS video features Mikayla discussing some of the little additions by the recording session’s musicians that made a huge impact on the track – such as Rob McNelley’s hook at the top of the song – producer Jimmy Ritchey’s overview of the song’s production and more. “The recording process was incredible,” says Mikayla. “The most amazing musicians all in one room making YOUR song come to life is such a wonderful experience.”
