Exclusive Music Video Premiere: Lloyd Carter Band “His Last Chance”

This past August, Lloyd Carter Band released their debut album Nothing To Lose. Mixed with a modern edge, its 11-tracks harken back to the days of 90s country and given the country artists whom Carter has looked up to – Keith Whitley, Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty – it’s easy to see why his sound is so traditional. The album is also very personal for the Georgia native and bandmates Henry McGill and Gary DiBenedetto (Keyboard Pad, Organ, Piano, Pedal Steel Guitar, Bass).

“The guys and I love making music, and we’re so proud of this whole album titled Nothing To Lose,” says Carter. “Every song on this whole record is a page out of Gary, Henry, and my life. We are so appreciative of people that take the time to listen to our songs. 2020 has been a rough year taking away the live performances for all artists. I’m praying for the day we get through this so we can go out and see our fans face-to-face again in a show.”

The songs bring individual stories to the masses, like all well-written storytelling songs do. “I value the time that anyone gives us to listen to our songs and the stories we love to tell.”

Take track #9 and the album’s lead single, “His Last Chance.” The song showcases the story of a hard working single mom who puts her children first, and while her intentions are pure and good, they are unfortunately blinding: “”His Last Chance” is a tribute to the single mom out there struggling to take care of her little tribe. It’s also a tribute to the good guy, the guy that wants to step up and be the man to tell her “it’s all right.” She’s so caught up in her life trying to make ends meet by working two jobs and raising two kids that she doesn’t even notice the good guy. The right guy, the fella that really wants to be a part of her and her kids life. She’s made mistakes in her past from believing empty promises in the dark, but I still believe in stories with happy endings.”

As visual as the lyrics are, putting this story to film makes it even more emotional and today the official music video for “His Last Chance” is premiering exclusively with The Country Note.

“It wasn’t really that hard coming up with the idea for the video of this song,” explains Carter. “My writing partners Gary DiBenedetto, Henry Mcgill, and myself try really hard to focus on telling a story in a song. We just simply follow the story, found a beautiful mom with two precious kids that are doing the best they can to get by in this tough world.”

“I hope with this song, moms out there that have made the mistake of picking Mr. Wrong slow down and look around, Mr. Right is probably right there in front of you.”
