NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising country music artist and Sony / ATV songwriter Lainey Wilson is taking notes from her own lyrics these days. Having self-released her new six-song EP, Lainey Wilson, in April and continued to captivate audiences with her energetic live performances both in Nashville and on the road, Wilson is doubling down on her efforts with the release of her new music video for“Workin’ Overtime,” the lead song from her self-titled EP. The Jessica Steddom-directed video will premiere exclusively on CMT Music today, May 18 starting at 6:00 a.m. ET and is also available now at CMT.com.

“‘Workin’ Overtime’ is really an ode to owning who you are, but also paying your respects to the people who help shape you and look out for you along the way,” shares Wilson. “Even though the song talks about kind of being dangerous and stepping out of line and stuff like that, it’s more about stepping out on a leap of faith, even when a lot of people probably think you’re crazy. That’s just always been who I am. It’s just in me to want to do something a little different, whether it’s with music or otherwise, and I think everybody, whether they want to admit it or not, has a little bit of that side to them. I like to show mine a little bit more than I probably should, but I think ‘Workin’ Overtime’ speaks for a lot of people, and I hope they embrace it and love it as much as I do.”

Released digitally on April 13, Wilson’s self-titled EP has piqued the ears of both fans and industry insiders alike, with Taste of Countrynaming Wilson one of their “5 Country Artists to Watch in May 2018” and noting her distinctive vocals are “reminiscent of Lee Ann Womack and filled with pop-country appeal — a combination that proves her power as a vocalist and potential to be a rising star in 2018” andWhiskey Riff declaring that Wilson is primed for “a career ahead of her with no limit.” Adds music journalist Jason Scott, “Folks, don’t sleep on [Lainey Wilson’s] new EP. What. a. [sic] voice!”

Wilson penned “Workin’ Overtime” with hit songwriter Rob Crosby (“Friday Night,” “Concrete Angel,” “She’s More”) and she is a co-writer on all six songs on the EP. Lainey Wilson is available now via digital retailers and streaming services at http://smarturl.it/laineywilsonEP.
