NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s an interview fans won’t want to miss, as three-time GRAMMY® award-winning country music icon Charley Pride appears on “Tavis Smiley,” December 16. The nationally syndicated talk-show airs on PBS, and is hosted by TV personality Tavis Smiley. During the award-winning program, Pride and Smiley will discuss the 36-time chart topper’s 50-year career, which has landed him dozens of awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Tavis Smiley is known as one of television’s best interviewers, and he has been a fixture on the PBS late-night lineup since 2004. During the candid interview, Pride opens up about his storied life, which includes beating all of the odds and going on to become one of the most iconic country stars of all time.

The former CMA winner for “Entertainer of the Year” has experienced resurgence in 2016, celebrating his 50th year as a country music recording artist. In addition to being featured on the No. 1 song, “Forever Country” alongside Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and more, Pride also appeared on “The 50th Annual CMA Awards,” performing his signature hit “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” in the show’s opening segment, joined by Brad Paisley.
