Kiefer Sutherland Wears His Heart On His Sleeve In New Video “I’ll Do Anything”

While attempting to pursue a singing career isn’t always a successful road for actors, Kiefer Sutherland has made it look easy. Too easy, perhaps. But that’s because the man who’s known huge success in movies (“The Lost Boys”) and in our living rooms (“24,” “Designated Survivor”) is also a natural behind the pen and mic. If you’re not convinced, then check out his new music video for the romantic ballad “I’ll Do Anything,” the third single from Sutherland’s highly-acclaimed debut album Down In A Hole.

Given that Sutherland is an accomplished actor, one would think the video would have some sort of a story-line, as there was with the first single “Not Enough Whiskey.” But Sutherland stayed with the “less is more” course he took with the video for the follow-up “Can’t Stay Away.” The simplicity of just the singer and his band, performing with their instruments in a generic setting of a garage does two things. First, the grainy black and white aesthetic of the video emulates Sutherland’s raspy (and yes, sexy) voice.  The lack of distractions allows the song’s honest lyrics to stand out as he pours out his love to a female friend, hoping she feels the same:

I’ve been searching for you all my life, looked so hard that I went blind.
There you were standing in front of me, right in front of me for all this time.
When my world would come undone, I’d call on you to provide.
And all those nights I spent laughing, there you were right by my side.

Secondly, Sutherland’s fan-base knows he’s a great actor, but to be convincing as a musician is not an easy role to perfect. With no smoke and mirrors to hide behind, Sutherland comes off genuine – meaning the words he’s singing, feeling the strums of his guitar – proving to any doubters that he is the real deal.

Catch Kiefer Sutherland and his band this spring as they bring their Not Enough Whiskey Tour across the U.S.
