Natalie Hemby Debuts on the Grand Ole Opry

lends songwriting memorabilia to the Country Music Hall of Fame’s “American Currents” exhibit

NASHVILLE — 2017 is a year of firsts for Natalie Hemby, one of the most sought-after songwriters in modern country music. In January, she made her long-anticipated and critically acclaimed solo debut with Puxico, an album inspired by the annual homecoming celebrations of her grandfather’s hometown of Puxico, Missouri. This weekend, Hemby debuted on country music’s most famous stage, the Grand Ole Opry. She performed “Ferris Wheel” and “Worn” with her husband (and Puxico producer), Mike Wrucke on guitar. Truly a full-circle moment for Hemby, a Nashville-native, as her high school graduation was held on the Opry stage.

Earlier last week, Hemby joined a cast of allstar songwriters for the opening of American Currents, the newest exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. On display in the museum is a notebook of Hemby’s with handwritten song ideas for Miranda Lambert and a wooden number one, hand carved by her grandfather to celebrate “White Liar” hitting number one on country charts.

This summer, Hemby will open three shows on Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Soul2Soul tour: Aug. 24 in Fargo, North Dakota, and Aug. 25-26 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
