Lee Brice’s “Boy” Sparks First Week Fan Frenzy

“Magical” Music Video Sets Tone for June 19 Radio Add Date, Nov. 3 Album

Nashville, Tenn. — Released digitally May 19th, Lee Brice’s “Boy” — the first single from the headliner’s self-titled, fourth album due out November 3 (CMA Week) — has already become a viral hit, reaching more than five million views in its first week. Written by Nicolle Galyon and Jon Nite, the song embodies central themes of Brice’s upcoming album, including family, love, tradition, and the American ideals of quality and hard work.

“Lee’s voice wraps around this song as nobody else’s could. His delivery will surely earn him a spot in the Male Vocalist category,” says Nite.

Fellow hit-maker, Kelsea Ballerini agrees, chiming in over Twitter with her show of support. “Song of the Year,” she wrote about “Boy,” adding, “Lee, Nicolle, Jon … you made magic.” A tweet from Luke Combs echoed those thoughts, with the country newcomer writing, “‘Boy’ will be song of the year. Calling it.”

Within the first 24-hours of release, “Boy” was #3 on the US iTunes Top Country Songs chart, #1 in Australia and Top 20 in Canada. The track’s total first-week sales tallied more than 24,000, making it #5 on SoundScan’s Top Country Digital Singles chart and #32 across all genres.

The song dominated on YouTube, also, trending at #1 throughout its first weekend totaling more than 2 million views. Even more impressive was the single’s reception on Facebook, where it averaged more than 1,000 shares per hour during its first 6 hours of release. Since then, the “Boy” music video has reached more than 7 million Facebook users, racking up 3.1 million views along the way.

For Brice — a family man, proud husband, and father of two sons with a baby daughter on the way — “Boy” serves as a tribute to his young boys, Takoda (9 years old) and Ryker (3), both of whom appear in the song’s evocative, emotional video. In the clip, the Brice family spends a day together on the family farm, sharing the simple joys of picnicking and fishing. The song and its accompanying video deliver another poignant performance from a world-class male vocalist whose string of multi-platinum hits — including “I Don’t Dance,” “Hard To Love,” and “Working Class” — have always shone a light on the everyday heroes in our midst. Brice’s fans won’t have to look very hard to see glimpses of their families in “Boy.”

Brice, who co-produced his upcoming album with Jon Stone, Kyle Jacobs, and Dan Frizsell, continues to tour through the fall while preparing for the summertime arrival of his third child. The self-titled Lee Brice — the fourth album from the award-winning songwriter, producer, headlining touring act, and acclaimed male vocalist — will be released November 3rd on Curb Records.
