Jo Dee Messina Brings the “Night Crawl” to Beachbody’s Newest Program, “Country Heat”

Bringing health and fitness to the masses, the powerhouse fitness program Beachbody returned to the heart of Music City for their annual summit, this time with a brand new “countrified” workout plan featuring country music’s biggest hits and an original piece by everyone’s favorite fiery red-head, Jo Dee Messina. And surprisingly, the collaboration began with a tweet.

Messina encouraged fans via social media to join her in performing Beachbody’s popular fitness and weight loss program 21 DAY FIX, which helped her get into the best shape of her life – “The results were incredible,” she boasts. “To see the before and after photos fans shared with me really showed how amazing the program is.” To show that appreciation, Messina reached out to 21 DAY FIX creator and world-renowned Beachbody trainer Autumn Calabrese via Twitter, saying how much she loved the program and the impact it had. Calabrese responded and the two hit it off, eventually a mutual connection (Messina’s cousin is also a Beachbody coach) had them meet in person when Calabrese visited Nashville over Thanksgiving.

With the ever-growing popularity of country music, Beachbody wanted to reach out to help change the health and well-being of those whom turn their dials for a bit of twang – Calabrese herself is a fan and jumped at the opportunity. “I love country music and I have a dancing background so I was excited,” says Calabrese. “So when I was approached to do a country workout, I couldn’t think of anyone other than Jo Dee to contribute an original song.”

And so “Night Crawl” was born, the only original song on “Country Heat” amongst 40 of country music’s biggest re-recorded tracks. “I starting thinking about appealing country music related activities that would entice fans,” Messina stated. “I had heard about pub crawls, they are a popular thing everyone enjoys doing (especially on lower Broadway), so then the idea stemmed from that.” And the song itself, now available for purchase, is incredible – it possesses a twangy blues sound appealing to both traditional and contemporary country fans, Messina’s vocals giving a seductive invitation to “join in the fun.”

But don’t mistake it for a traditional country line dance one would find at their nearest honky tonk – “Country Heat” is its own being. “It’s not a line dance,” creator Autumn Calabrese tells The Country Note. “It follows the eight-count structure one would find with a traditional line dance, but it is a workout.”

Tonight Jo Dee Messina performs her original song “Night Crawl” at Nissan Stadium, leading the charge for thousands of coaches and fans to perform the new workout with her. The Beachbody Summit concludes Saturday with Calabrese teaching the “Country Heat” Super Workout with over 30,000 Beachbody coaches working out on the streets of Broadway in downtown Nashville.
