It’s been a long time coming for fans of Confederate Railroad and now it is finally here; Lucky To Be Alive, CR’s first studio album in eight years, is available today, July 15th.

The twelve song compilation wasn’t initially intended, but rather it was interactions with fans that essentially initiated the process. “We heard stories from fans about how influential we were in their life, even heard it from current artists,” frontman Danny Shirley told The Country Note back in May of 2016. “So we talked it over and decided ‘let’s do a demo,’ then it turned into a record. A friend at Sony heard the demo and said ‘let’s do this.”

Brought to the collection is a signature staple of Confederate Railroad’s catalog, their 1993 chart-topping rendition of Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Trashy Women,” recruiting some big named friends to help in the 2013 20th Anniversary including Willie Nelson, John Anderson, Colt Ford and former NFL coach Jerry Glanville. The legendary Charlie Daniels also makes an impact on the album, lending his hand to newer track “Fast Cars and Guitars,”

Outside of the collaborations and revved up ’90’s country feel, fans new and old will appreciate the genuineness that comes with Lucky To Be Alive –  with the members of Confederate Railroad having a large part of the writing creds, it’s expected to get personal. And it does. Speaking to The Hot Seat, Shirley states The ‘Man I Am Today.’ There are two songs on this album that directly relate to my most recent divorce – that one is treated with humor. The other, not so much.

Find out what other song Shirley is discussing when you get your copy of Lucky To Be Alive, the seventh studio album from Confederate Railroad, now.
