Aaron Watson To Perform At Grand Ole Opry On February 10

Groundbreaking independent country artist Aaron Watson will perform at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN on Friday, Feb. 10th at 7:00 p.m. Watson’s highly anticipated album Vaquero (BIG Label/Thirty Tigers) will be released on Feb. 24th. Lead single “Outta Style” has already been highlighted by Billboard, Taste Of Country and Rolling Stone Country called it, “…the most stylish song of his career.” Watson made history in 2015 when his 10th studio album The Underdog debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart marking the first time an independent, male country artist had ever debuted at the top spot.

Over the last 17 years, Watson has built his career one fan at a time, night after night, and album-by-album. Now more than ever, he is a force to contend with selling out shows across Texas and beyond and performing to capacity crowds internationally. This year, he marks a major milestone as the headliner opening night at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It’s been a slow and steady climb, but one thing is clear, the integrity and principals that lie beneath all the hard work and perseverance have remain unchanged.

With Vaquero, Watson was especially drawn to the idea of the vaquero, the original Spanish horseman that set the foundation for the North American cowboy. The compelling narratives across the album depict stories of a rugged people, humble but hardworking, like himself. Pulling from Texas’ storied musical melting pot, he delivers a playful spin on the Texan way of life with “Amen Amigo” and life lessons courtesy of an old vaquero with the title track. On poignant “Diamonds & Daughters,” he opens up his heart for his little girl and “They Don’t Make ‘Em Like They Used To” is a longing for the nostalgia of an earlier time. The Amarillo, Texas native follows a trail back to his roots, keying in on his influences and tipping his hat to the fans and family who helped set the foundation for his success.

Vaquero was co-produced by Watson and Marshall Altman. All 16 songs were written or co-written by Watson and collaborators; Mac McAnally, Leslie Satcher, Kendell Marvel, among others.
