Emmylou and Friends Spend “A Nashville Christmas” Together

Emmylou. Wynonna. Lorrie. Pam. It’s the makings of a ladies T-Shirt found hanging in a Lower Broadway store in Nashville. (Trust us. They’re there. We wouldn’t make this stuff up!) It’s also the makings of a TV Christmas special and it’s happening next week (We wouldn’t make that up either). These respected pioneers in the country music world are coming together to celebrate the magic of the holidays when A Nashville Christmas premieres on getTV December 7, 2017 at 8/7 central.

Have your popcorn and hot chocolate ready to sit by the fire for a solid 60 minutes on this night. You are not going to want to miss Pam Tillis snapping her fingers to “Santa Claus Baby” or Lorrie Morgan reminiscing about a simpler time and place with  “The Christmas Song.” Oh, and Hurricane Wynonna will be bringing down the house with her powerful version of “O Holy Night”.  Not to mention the fact that Dolly’s “Coat of Many Colors” will sparkle like Dolly herself when performed by friend and 13 time Grammy award winner, Emmylou Harris.  Continue to be amazed as Wynonna and Emmylou share the stage for “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”, a song they each recorded separately on Holiday albums in previous years.  Gospel great Ashley Cleveland and Bluegrass favorites Dailey and Vincent round out the talent for this music variety special as part of getTV’s third annual “Most Wonderful Month of the Year” celebration.

A celebration that includes your favorite Christmas movies and TV specials with your favorite artists. Reba McEntire’s TV movie, “The Secret of Giving” and “Johnny Cash Christmas 1983” (featuring guest stars Merle Haggard and Ricky Skaggs) will air this season.  Also making an appearance on the network is Shania Twain when she joins friends Phil Collins and Luther Vandross for “Vanessa Williams and Friends: Christmas in New York.” And that’s just the beginning. You may want to make multiple cups of hot chocolate. You have a lot of celebrating to do.

And to get an idea of just how much, The Country Note sat down with Country Hall of Famer and music legend, Emmylou Harris. Never one to dote on herself, she lit up when bragging about her co stars, particularly Ashley Cleveland, who has released eight critically acclaimed albums and won two Doves. We took a walk down memory lane as she told us about the recording of her 1979 Christmas Album, Light of the Stable, and we learned about her Christmas traditions and her passion for helping others.
