LANCO and Kane Brown Complete Lineup Trifecta

On a cold and rainy Thursday evening (1/11), Chris Young‘s Losing Sleep World Tour brought the heat to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.  After sharing their excitement all week via social media, the artists were ready to kick off the tour, up to the task to entertain and the crowd was eager and willing.

Special guests LANCO and Kane Brown started the opening night show with energetic, crowd pleasing performances, setting the stage for the headliner Chris Young – on his own and in total command of his first arena World Tour. And he did not disappoint.

LANCO enticed the crowd with an amped up, jam packed performance with tunes from their soon to be released debut album Hallelujah Nights.  The six member group took to the stage like seasoned performers, so much so that lead singer Brandon Lancaster jumped into the crowd with drum and mic, serenading with songs like Troublemaker“, “Long Live Tonight”, and their RIAA Platinum hit Greatest Love Story” as the crowd joyously sang along.

Country’s tattooed hunk Kane Brown took over for second opening spot. With a fun-filled set of old, new, and retro tunes, Brown had total engagement from the crowd, which generated screams of delight when he added a bit of sexiness to his set. Brown belted out tunes like Hometown and “What Ifs”, his #1 hit with Lauren Alaina, then calmed things down with Used To Love You Sober and his latest heartbreaker “Heaven”.  Brown shifted to a few old school tunes he grew up on and the crowd, filled with both young and old, had no problems singing and cheering along.  The mashup of Bruno Mars“Billionaire”, Outkast“Ms. Jackson”, and The Frays“Over My Head” was one that this exuberant crowd indulged in by singing along and standing on their feet. Brown commanded the stage like a veteran performer and the fans treated him as such.

The crowd remained standing as the man of the hour opened with a masterful graphics video worthy of any headliner. Young’s entrance was impressive, entering the stage from a revolving door alone with one spotlight, and singing a Capella his tour titled, Top 5 hit “Losing Sleep.” The crowd immediately sang along, and Young wasted no time jumping in to the remaining parts, joining the crowd as they sang in unison.  The handsome country crooner couldn’t help but be taken aback when the singing turned into loud thunderous applause, causing Young to step back and point at the audience, sending thank you’s to them.  It was clear that this opening number set the bar for the rest of the set, or so one thought.

He played old and new songs, and one that still has no name (two friends wrote this very traditional tune that he sang because he loved it).  From several number one hits likeGettin’ You Home, “Voices”, to the ever classic favorite “Tomorrow”, Young never stopped thanking the very receptive audience for getting him all these accolades, nor stopped for allowing him the opportunity to do what he loves.  Throughout the set, Young often paused to talk for a few, then would burst into playing some more songs off his new album.  He started with “Hangin’ On” which, as he stated, is one of his favorites.  He also played an extremely heart wrenching performance of “Where I Go When I Drink”, commenting that it’s a highly requested song for him to play.  The lights were dark except for a single spotlight shown from behind as Young engaged the audience with this heartfelt, solid performance.  The crowd stood mesmerized with cell phone lights shining, singing along.  In between his past hits, Young also sang a few fan favorites from his last two albums, never skipping a beat.

At the top of the encore, Young again thanked everyone for everything and played his final two songs.  One surprising note was that he and Brown did not perform their duet “Setting The Night on Fire”, but no matter what was played or not, Young proved he can play big venues with ease and a non-stop, top-notch performance.

And with the new lighting, new set up and graphics on this tour, this opening night has set the bar for future ones.
